Want to stay warm and extend your dive time? Then dive dry! The SDI Dry Suit Diver Course will open up a whole new world of diving to you.

 

Many of the diving environments around the world are better experienced in a dry suit. Why? These areas have an abundance of marine life waiting to be seen and photographed – they just happen to be a little colder!

Dive locations such as Silfra Iceland where you can dive between 2 tectonic plates Dry Suit's are manditory 

 

Dry suits are also used in tropical water during the cooler months.This course allows you to develop the knowledge and skills to properly use a dry suit. 

What Is Dry Suit DIVING?

This course is perfect for the certified diver looking for advanced training in dry suit equipment, selection and diving techniques.

 

Being Dry Suit Certified you are able to expand your boundaries, dive more places, extend your diving season, spend more time diving in cooler environments and/or enjoy enhancing the dive experience by staying warm and cozy in a dry suit.

You will discover which dry suit style and accompanying undergarments are right for you and the diving you’ll do.

 

Learning how thermal layering for warmth and comfort is extremely important for Dry Suit diving.

What Am I Going To LEARN?

The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary training to plan and execute dives, identify and solve any problems that arise while diving in a Dry Suit.

 

By the end of the course your knowledge, awareness, and comfort level with Dry Suit diving activities will have increased.

Your training starts by reviewing reasons for Dry Suit diving and how extremely important it is to know your equipment and personal limits.

 

During your Dry Suit dives with your instructor, you’ll go over:

  • Types of Dry Suits

  • Types of Seals

  • Features of a Dry Suit

  • Dive Wear And Insulation (under garments)

  • Dry Suit Valves

  • Maintenance And Care

What Are The REQUIREMENTS?

Your own Dry Suit along with your basic scuba equipment, The Dive Place Instructor and The Dive Place crew may suggest other equipment options, such as thermal protection to stay comfortable in cooler water.

Course prerequisites:

  • Your own personal Dry Suit

  • SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Diver, or equivalent

  • Minimum age 18, 12 with parental consent

  • ​

*Note: Divers under the age of 18 must participate in underwater navigation diving activities with a parent, guardian, or dive professional. 

​

In addition, the first dive of this Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Adventure Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.

How Do I Get STARTED?

Enroll in the course and get a Dry Suit Diver online eLearning materials. By studying before class, you’ll be better prepared for the thrill of exploring the underwater world while cruising along drifting with the current and enjoying the ride.
