Deep Diver Specialty CERTIFICATION
What Exactly Is Deep DIVING?
There is something exciting and mysterious about the lure of the deep and exploring exciting and unique places that so few people are able to go.
Sometimes it’s a wreck below 18 metres/60 feet that attracts you. Or it could be a wall dive where you see that giant fan or sponge that you want to investigate. Perhaps it's unique marine life that inhabits deeper waters that are not seen in shallower waters.
Deep Diver Course is a must for any diver wishing to explore a little more, go a little deeper, and learn the risks and benefits associated with deep diving.
Many interesting sights lay just beyond open water diver training limits such as: beautiful wall dives, shipwrecks, and critters that don’t come into the shallows.
What Are You Going To LEARN?
The purpose of this course is to provide the necessary training to plan and execute dives that are beyond the depth range experienced during an Open Water Scuba Diver course, specifically beyond 18 metres/60 feet and to a maximum depth of not greater than 40 metres/130 feet.
By the end of the course your knowledge, awareness, and comfort level with deep diving activities will have increased.

Your training starts by reviewing reasons for deep diving and how extremely important it is to know your personal limits.
During your deep dives with your instructor, you’ll go over:
-
Specialized deep diving equipment.
-
Deep dive planning, buddy contact procedures and buoyancy control.
-
Managing your gas supply, dealing with gas narcosis and safety considerations.
What Equipment Will You NEED?
Along with your basic scuba equipment, you’ll need a SMB or DSMB, a line and reel. You're The Dive Place Instructor and The Dive Place crew may suggest other equipment options, such as wearing more exposure protection to stay comfortable in cooler water.
You may be able to get college credit for the Deep Diver course – ask your instructor.
Also, the first dive of this Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Adventure Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.
